Did you know that they can harm your fur babies? The chemicals can quickly be absorbed orally or through the skin. 

Smoke can irritate the lungs with any fur babies. Furbabies with asthma or other respiratory conditions may struggle more, ensure ventilation is good in the room so the fur babies can breathe easier. 

Wax melts are better & safer to use. They can help with problems like:

– Anxiety

– Stress

– Better sleep/insomnia

& many more.

Potpourri could cause irritation to a cats sensitive nose. If ingested if may cause upset tummy, a blockage in the intestines. 

Liquid potpourri is more dangerous to fur babies due to the cationic detergents and essential oils in the oils. 

Liquid potpourri to avoid are: 

– cinnamon

– peppermint extract 

– tea tree

– yang yang

– pennyroyal 

– pine

– sweet birch

– clove

– wintergreen

– citrus

– cymbopogo citratus

– Garlic

Some signs to look change out for:

– Change in breathing 

– wobbly, change in their walking or uncoordinated gait

– Drooling

– Pawing at the face or mouth

– Becoming more sleepy, lethargy or appearing weak

– redness in or around the mouth & skin

– Vomiting

There are other ingredients within the household that can cause irritation such as, cleaning products, air fresheners, aromatherapy, perfumes and many more.

Safe non-toxic scents for cats:

  • Frankincense
  • Chamomile
  • Lavender

Safe non-toxic for dogs:

– Lavender

– Ginger

– Rosemary

– Frankincense

– Myrrh

– Chamomile

Keep any burning candles, oil burners etc high and out of reach.

Consult with a vet to discuss the option of wax melts and which ones are better to use, the best course of action/treatment.
